Time to change

There's chatter in the household: a child's run away
Fingers start pointing: oh what can we say
After making the rounds about..who is at fault
They conclude by admitting: "it's the child" by default

And we fail now to see it beyond all our pride
The culprit for our failures is lurking inside
We dig for some reasons but find what is old
Anything to stop it: the truth from being told?

The countries are now meeting with an agenda of peace
But politicians are sticklers and want it to cease
Too proud to admit it that  we can learn how to forgive
They strive to rally forces with  lies that they give

And we fail now to see it beyond all our pride
The culprit for our failures is lurking inside
We dig for some reasons but find what is old
Anything to stop it: the truth from being told?

The lion and the child will learn it some day
That peaceful coexistance can create a new way
Its promised through the pages of a biblical rhyme
Wild beasts and children will be friends in due time

 (Is: 11-6; Is: 11-8)

And we fail now to see it beyond all our pride
The culprit for our failures is lurking inside
We dig for some reasons but find what is old
Anything to stop it: the truth from being told?

The children are all learning from all that they see
We have to acknowledge it:  we are who'll they'll be
Before they can even spell it:  the word bigotry
They can see it so embodied in you and in me

And we fail now to see it beyond all our pride
The culprit for our failures is lurking inside
We dig for some reasons but find what is old
Anything to stop it: the truth from being told?

So what will we do with this verse for today
Will we toss it a snicker and continue on our way?
Or will we even consider it: that maybe it's true:
A new world can be heralded by me and by you

And we fail now to see it beyond all our pride
The culprit for our failures is lurking inside
We dig for some reasons but find what is old
Anything to stop it: the truth from being told?
