The waters have now flooded the Island of Puerto Rico
Maria the awfulest Hurricane has done more than we can know
The people of this nation are now looking to the rest
To assist them and help them: as recovering is their quest
Oh Puerto Rico, lovely island, where have you disappeared?
The waters and the wind storms have done what we have feared
Your nation is now soaked in the Atlantic and Caribbean
The sirens now silenced had warned us of what we're seeing
An ominous sound of silence and the creaking of the buildings
Whisper to the listener... there's a tragedy that's unyielding
Inside the shattered structures and below the shrinking waters
Are memories of a nation that will affect its sons and daughters
Oh Puerto Rico, lovely island, where have you disappeared?
The waters and the wind storms have done what we have feared
Your nation is now soaked in the Atlantic and Caribbean
The sirens now silenced have warned us of what we're seeing
You are not alone there; for, all the world is waiting,
For ways that we can help you; in this dilemma escalating...
Though, you are so inaccessible, to the hands, that want to help you:
We, the world, will rise up and assist you it is true..
Oh Puerto Rico lovely island where have you disappeared
The waters and the wind storms have done what we have feared
Your nation is now soaked in the Atlantic and Caribbean
The sirens now silenced had warned us of what we're seeing
I enjoyed reading your poignant poetic piece. It's a shame so many are suffering.
