Inside of every American..
is a lovely living soul
Though outside we may be different;
we have one lasting goal
To live, to love, and grow up;
into the potential that we are
Our lives are all so precious..
we're more brilliant than a star
So why don't we treat each other
like the gems we really are
Why do we act so distant;
when we aren't so very far?
We're breathing, living beings..
so very near.. yet far away
I am wanting a revolution
where love will win the day
The other day I saw it..
it was appearing on the news:
The bickering, political backbiting:
an awfulness set loose;
Yet we have grown accustomed
to side with one view or another
What if we would change this pattern
and choose to love each other??
So why don't we treat each other
like the gems we really are
Why do we act so distant;
when we aren't so very far?
We're breathing, living beings..
so very near.. yet far away
I'm wanting a revolution
where love will win the day
I find myself in a panic
like a part of me wants to die
Whenever I see the news now..
can't we all begin to try
Is it all so really necessary
this awful hateful talk
I dream of another time when
we all together will walk...
So why don't we treat each other
like the gems we really are
Why do we act so distant;
when we aren't so very far?
We're breathing, living beings..
so very near.. yet far away
I'm wanting a revolution
where love will win the day
I'm thinking of the first days
of the America that we know
How we would strive to work together
and help each other grow
How is it, that we have become thus:
this divided political land
If only go back to that time
when were glad to work hand in hand
So why don't we treat each other
like the gems we really are
Why do we act so distant;
when we aren't so very far?
We're breathing, living beings..
so very near.. yet far away
I'm wanting a revolution
where love will win the day
