Remember always...

Sitting down at that large table Jesus looked with sad filled eyes
For He knew that evening coming would catch the apostles by surprise
One of them would become betrayer and one of them would deny His name
Sitting down at that Last Supper Jesus knew it wouldn't ever be the same

And He said to one and all of them: take and eat and take and drink
As You do this remember always I am the Bread and Wine you  need..

Each one looked with awe filled wonder as He blessed the Bread He   gave
Something in His eyes had told them clearly these are moments they'll want to save
Lifting up the Sacred Chalice; tears were mixing in the Wine He passed
Do this always in My memory He said this with a tone that would eternally last..

And He said to one and all of them: take and eat and take and drink
As You do this remember always; I am the Bread and Wine you need..

Before each member of that  Passover Jesus bent to wash their feet
Eyes with bewilderment met this action: "why would He do such a fete...?"
"As I bend to wash your feet here you must bend to meet the needs
Of every person you call  neighbor and your neighbor is each soul you meet.."

And He said to one and all of them: take and eat and take and drink
As You do remember this always; I am the Bread and Wine you need..

From the supper they went praying, in the Garden of Gethsemenee
All were sluggish from the eating Jesus whispered "Watch and Keep"
Father Father the hour is coming; for soon Your Will will be done in me
If from Me this cup cannot pass now I will surrender like the lamb I'll be..

And He said to one and all of them: take and eat and take and drink
As You do this remember always; I am the Bread and Wine you need..

They came to take Him,  led on.. by Judas, one of His own who gave a kiss
Is this Judas how you'll betray Me I knew it would happen just like this
After the encounter with his betrayer the guards took hold to lead away
All of the apostles were fearfully trembling Peter took his sword and swung away

And He said to one and all of them: take and eat and take and drink
As You do this remember always; I am the Bread and Wine you need..

Jesus told them that: "all is over.. put away the swords that you wield
Nothing now could stop His journey This is all a part of His Father's will."
When the soldiers tried to take them; every one of them ran away...
Later that evening, Peter denied Him: saying he never passed along Jesus' way

And He said to one and all of them: take and eat and take and drink
As You do this remember always; I am the Bread and Wine you need..

The rest of the story, we all know it, Jesus was nailed to a shaven tree
Hanging there for several hours He would expire without much  family.
The apostles: hiding, His friends left Him.. only His mother and one true friend
Saw Him breathe the last long sighing and heard His final words in the end.

And He said to one and all of them: take and eat and take and drink
As You do this, remember always; I am the Bread and Wine you need..
