Today we celebrate independence but are we all truly free
Are there still some groups of people who can't freely be
Blood and sweat were poured out as wars and battles were won
But is the good ole USA protective of everyone?
We see all the lines and the protests, the signs and the banners too;
The movements of the many peoples:reminding us of what to do..
Yet there are so many that are silenced, so many that go unheard
People with the most powerful positions, cattle the rest like a heard
Today we celebrate independence but are we all truly free
Are there still some groups of people who can't freely be
Blood and sweat were poured out as wars and battles were won
But is the good ole USA protective of everyone?'
What about all the many homeless the addictees and the rest
Is there anyone representing the poorest with their request
Is it only for those who are powerful the greatness of this place
When will we see the equality of America's amazing grace?
Today we celebrate independence but are we all truly free
Are there still some groups of people who can't freely be
Blood and sweat were poured out as wars and battles were won
But is the good ole USA protective of everyone?'
Yes we should be happy and participate in the celebrations
We should shoot off fireworks and parade across the nation
But we should also be aware and be constantly reminded
That there are those who are left out in this land so united
Today we celebrate independence but are we all truly free
Are there still some groups of people who can't freely be
Blood and sweat were poured out as wars and battles were won
But is the good ole USA protective of everyone?'
