Something about my own disability
Because it is plain as plain can be
That diagnosis doesn't equate identity..
The struggles I have in my body or mind
Shouldn't be the way that I am defined
Mental or physical, they are all the same:
Painful and trying; but they're not my name..
So, if you will see me; don't see me as ill
Or as one addicted to some prescription pill;
For disordered or disabled I'm still just me
I'm worthy of respect and my own dignity
