Happy Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is for everyone: for lovers and all

For couples, for singles, for great ones and small

For remembering the sweet things and remembering to love

For giving out flowers and candy and stuff

Valentine's Day is for thinking about everyone with care

For sending out  heart shapes and greetings  everywhere

It was named after a prisoner who was trying to lift up

Family and townsfolk who were saddened by stuff

It's  become so commercialized, so cheapened by price

That we almost forget "this": that it's about being nice

This day is about loving and  about keeping up hope

For reaching out to everyone with a simple love note

So don't be so saddened if you're  the single one.. today

Valentine's were first given out to everyone on the way

You  can still become that recipient ...that giver of love

And that is why I am encouraging you: rise above the stuff

Happy Heart Day and Valentine's Day and ..I love you all

You're  special ..  you're  thought of and  let the cards fall

Today and forever and for everyone, every day

Let us, each of us, be valentines.. for everyone along the way
