Let us all be more welcoming to one and to all
And speak to that someone who might need a call
Let us help out a stranger and give without cost
For today we are remembering a hero once lost
Martin Luther King Jr. was a person so brave
He stepped up for justice despite the opposing rave
He spoke out for the others and for the others he died
Equality was the mantra that he lived and multiplied...
The world, he was living in, was not like today
Racism was more rampant and hatred was a way
Killing for one's color was accepted and praised
Prejudice was embodied and left so many dazed
Martin Luther King Jr was a person so brave
He stepped up for justice despite the opposing rave
He spoke out for the others and for the others he died
Equality was the mantra that he lived and multiplied...
Today we are looking for some heroes again
We're needing another "Martin" to challenge us within
For loving and caring and sharing with all
Should be a common anthem that's sung by great and small
Martin Luther King Jr was a person so brave
He stepped up for justice despite the opposing rave
He spoke out for the others and for the others he died
Equality was the mantra that he lived and multiplied...
