Shivering children watched the sky
As the war planes passed them by
"Peace on earth: no more", they cried
"It could have happened if we tried"
Streets are streaming with a fog
Dust is settling, gruesome smog
Words explain this on some blog
It's the opening of a prologue.
Broken buildings shattered doors
Remnants of glass covering floors
Homeless people out in scores
Does it move this heart of yours?
"This is happening over there:
Should we worry, should we care?
This isn't really our affair?"
All our soldiers are over there...
Returning home with tears and scars
Service people, kin of ours
Hailed as heros and as stars
In their memories: ruins and chars
